"Our partnership began as a result of two companies with two separate objectives coming together for their common good. All American Seasonings approached Vollmer’s Bakery with an interest in diversifying their capabilities by blending for the commercial baking industry. At the same time, I was keenly interested in having a local supplier for our chocolate and vanilla cake mixes. I had encountered several supply shortages and wanted to partner with a local company that would stock our products, and simplify supply availability. Partnering together in all facets of product development, we opened our doors and allowed All American Seasonings full access to our equipment to conduct pilot tests. From our end, Vollmer’s was looking for an identical match to our cake mixes. There could be no sacrifice for quality or performance. "Skratch Labs initially approached All American Seasonings looking to increase production volume, and improve the retail packaging of our hydration mixes. After our initial meeting, Dr. Allen Lim (founder of Skratch Labs) and Liz Kraterfield (All American Seasonings R&D Director) began the process of ‘scaling-up’ the recipe for mass production. Our challenge to All American Seasonings was to research and locate vendors of “All Natural”, “Made from Scratch” ingredients, including fruit powders that would not compromise the taste or performance of the drink mix. After several revisions, and receiving the thumbs up from our test athletes, Allen’s precisely balanced recipe was ready for the mass market. As our company continues to expand, we’ve called on the assistance of All American Seasonings’ R&D lab to help us add additional flavors to our product line including a custom Matcha Green Tea Exercise flavor, post-exercise drink mixes, and several delicious daily electrolyte replacement options. At the time, and growing at a very fast clip, HuHot needed to streamline its food processing techniques. "My relationship with All American Seasonings began in the spring of 2004 over a cup of coffee at a Whole Foods Market in Boulder, Colorado. Andy and I met to discuss my business plan of combining established household national brand ingredients with snack food products. At that time, my newly-formed company, THANASI Foods, had just commenced a licensing partnership with Jim Beam® Bourbon, which provided a platform from which to foster our business. My challenge to All American Seasonings’ R&D team was to develop the perfect ingredient combination to produce the boldest, most-delicious and craveable sunflower seeds on the market. A major challenge to this project included using Jim Beam® Bourbon as a recipe ingredient. The tremendous response Thanasi Foods received from our Jim Beam® branded sunflower seeds over the initial 3 flavors (Original, BBQ, and Jalapeño) that year, inspired my brothers and me to later launch BIGS®, a new seed brand that would bring innovation and excitement to sunflower seeds and pumpkin seed snacks like never before. In April 2009, the BIGS® brand was launched. Our line-up of co-brand flavored sunflower seed SKUs has expanded to include Vlasic® Dill Pickle, Hidden Valley® Ranch, Heinz® Salt & Malt Vinegar, and Old Bay® Seasoned seeds. Again, I called on All American Seasonings’ R&D experts to help create the most dynamic, lip-smacking tastes by using the flavors from these major brands as a foundation. Today, BIGS® Seeds are sold in over fifty thousand U.S. retail locations. "When Modern Table set out to create our line of healthy meals, we placed the task of creating the most flavorful and easy to make sauces with AAS and they quickly met the challenge. We were most impressed by AAS’s ability to take our conceptual thoughts for the original sauce profiles and turn them into finished products that we could approve with a minimum of revisions. And, when the time came to put the finishing touches on the iterations we selected, All American simplified this process by allowing Modern Table full access to their R&D resources. Once product development was completed, AAS opened up the production side of their operations to Modern Table and set up small scale pilot productions for each of our sauce mixes. This step enabled us to see firsthand how our products would be produced and provided us with enough finished product to support our test marketing efforts and small scale rollouts.
